Volunteers are always needed at Helping Paws.

When you volunteer you are giving back to your community. You can make new friends, explore personal interests, realize talents, have fun and make a difference in the life of a dog or cat.

Volunteer Opportunities

CLEANING SHELTER - one of the most important tasks for a volunteer is cleaning the shelter… cages, floors, walls, litter boxes, water & food dishes, etc. This not only promotes a healthy environment, but makes it a nicer place for the public to visit when looking to adopt a pet.

DOG WALKING - It is important for all of our dogs to get regular exercise and socialization. You will be taking dogs out on individual walks for exercise and bathroom breaks.

LAUNDRY - washing and folding towels, blankets, dog and cat beds, etc. is always needed.

WASHING DISHES - Requires you to stand over sink and wash litter pans, cat dishes and water bowls:

FUNDRAISERS - we have specific fundraisers during the year to assist us in obtaining donations to keep the shelter running. These are normally held on either Saturday or Sunday.

  • Garage Sale

  • Wal-Mart Collection days (handing people our wish list to ask for non-cash donations)

  • Tag Days (standing in front of store with donation can)

  • Walk-a-Thon (fall)

  • 5K Run (Late Fall)

  • Annual Dinner Dance

Helping Paws is funded solely through donations.  Please help us save the stray dogs and cats that come to us for help. A gift of any amount will help in the lives of these wonderful animals.
